Talks Between Governments and JKJAAC Stall; Long March Towards Muzaffarabad to Begin on 27 July

The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) has announced that negotiations between representatives of the Governments of Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir and the Committee have concluded without reaching an agreement.
Following consultations within the Core Committee, JKJAAC has decided to proceed with the next phase of its peaceful civil rights movement by launching a Long March towards Muzaffarabad.
According to Umar Nazir Kashmiri, Member of the JKJAAC Core Committee, convoys from Mirpur Division will begin travelling on 26 July to join the ongoing sit-in (Dharna) in Rawalakot. On 27 July, following Zuhr prayers (1pm), participants will begin the Long March towards Muzaffarabad.
JKJAAC stated that, despite sustained efforts to resolve the situation through dialogue, the talks did not produce an acceptable outcome. The Committee reaffirmed that it remains committed to peaceful, democratic and constitutional means in pursuing its objectives.
The Committee called upon supporters participating in the march to maintain discipline, remain peaceful, and uphold the movement's commitment to non-violence throughout the journey.
JKJAAC also reiterated its willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue should the authorities demonstrate a genuine commitment to addressing the legitimate concerns of the people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
The Committee expressed its gratitude to citizens across Azad Jammu & Kashmir for their continued support and solidarity and called on participants to ensure that the Long March reflects the movement's principles of peace, unity and democratic engagement.
