Key Demands

Our primary demands for the welfare of the people

Fair Electricity Tariffs

The charter calls for permanent legislation on the 13 May 2024 electricity tariff notification, lower unit rates, an AJK national grid station, exemption from load shedding, and action against overbilling and faulty systems.

End Elite Privileges

JKJAAC demands an end to free facilities, excessive vehicles, pensions, and special privileges for the ruling elite, senior officials, judges, and bureaucrats, with public resources redirected toward ordinary citizens.

Better Healthcare & Education

The charter demands free medicines, testing, 24-hour hospital services, better doctors and equipment, plus free and uniform education for all children, modern teaching methods, technical education, and a uniform curriculum.

Clean Water, Roads & Infrastructure

JKJAAC demands clean drinking water schemes, restoration of water sources, improved road networks, major tunnels, bridge completion, and infrastructure projects across AJK to support public needs and tourism.

Formation in Muzaffarabad

Representatives and citizens from across Azad Jammu & Kashmir gathered in Muzaffarabad on 17 September 2023 and laid the foundation of the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee as a united people-led civic platform.

Long March Toward Muzaffarabad

On 11 May 2024, people from across Azad Jammu & Kashmir began a long march toward Muzaffarabad in support of the 10-point Charter of Demands.

Relief Announced

Following intervention by the Government of Pakistan on 13 May 2023, the price of a 20kg flour bag was reduced to Rs. 1000, and electricity tariffs were fixed at Rs. 3–6 per unit for domestic users and Rs. 10–15 per unit for commercial users.

Agreement and Withdrawal of Ordinance

On 8 December 2024, following statewide protests against the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Ordinance 2024, the government withdrew the ordinance, released arrested persons, and agreed to address electricity tariffs, movement-related cases, flour quality, local government powers, student union elections, and other pending commitments.
