The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) welcomes the statement made by former UK Labour Party Leader and Member of Parliament Jeremy Corbyn expressing concern over the ongoing situation in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and reaffirming his support for the democratic and human rights of the Kashmiri people.

Mr. Corbyn's call for the restoration of normal administration, protection of freedom of expression, the right to peaceful assembly, and the restoration of communication services reflects concerns that have been consistently raised by the people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir throughout this peaceful civil rights movement.

JKJAAC appreciates his recognition that the people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir must be able to exercise their fundamental freedoms, communicate freely, and have their legitimate grievances addressed through dialogue rather than confrontation.

We also welcome his commitment, together with fellow Members of Parliament, to continue engaging with the Government of Pakistan through diplomatic channels and to raise concerns regarding the ongoing situation affecting the people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

The Committee further appreciates Mr. Corbyn's acknowledgement of the deep concern felt by the British Kashmiri community, many of whom maintain close family ties with Azad Jammu & Kashmir and continue to stand in solidarity with the people during this difficult period.

JKJAAC remains firmly committed to peaceful civic engagement and democratic dialogue. Our movement is founded upon the principles of Haq-e-Hukamrani (the right to participatory governance) and Haq-e-Malkiat (the right of the people over their land and natural resources). These are legitimate democratic aspirations pursued through peaceful and constitutional means.

We once again call upon the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir to restore all communication services, protect the fundamental rights of peaceful citizens, engage in meaningful dialogue, and implement the commitments previously agreed through negotiations.

JKJAAC also calls upon parliamentarians, international human rights organizations, civil society, and the international community to continue monitoring developments in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and to support efforts aimed at protecting democratic freedoms, human rights, and the rule of law.

The people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir seek peace, dignity, justice, and accountable governance. We remain committed to achieving these objectives through peaceful, democratic, and non-violent means.
