The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) welcomes the statement by Imran Hussain MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Kashmir, urging the Governments of Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir to immediately resume negotiations with JKJAAC and reach a peaceful resolution based on the Committee's legitimate demands and the human rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

JKJAAC appreciates Mr. Hussain's recognition that many people across the United Kingdom have expressed deep concern over the breakdown in negotiations between the Governments of Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir and the Joint Awami Action Committee.

The Committee particularly welcomes Mr. Hussain's acknowledgement that, despite progress achieved through dialogue, many of the reasonable demands agreed during negotiations remain outstanding more than eight months later. His remarks reflect the concerns repeatedly raised by JKJAAC that meaningful implementation of signed agreements is essential to restoring public confidence and preventing further tensions.

JKJAAC has consistently maintained that its movement is an indigenous, peaceful and independent civil rights movement founded on the principles of Haq-e-Hukamrani (the right to participatory governance) and Haq-e-Malkiat (the right of the people over their land and natural resources). Our movement seeks accountable governance, implementation of written agreements, respect for fundamental rights, and meaningful public participation in decisions affecting the people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

The Committee welcomes Mr. Hussain's direct appeal to the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Governments of Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir to return to the negotiating table and pursue a peaceful settlement through dialogue. JKJAAC has repeatedly stated that dialogue remains the only sustainable path to resolving the present situation and addressing the legitimate concerns of the people.

JKJAAC reiterates that agreements reached through negotiations should be implemented in both letter and spirit. Lasting peace, stability, and public trust can only be achieved through honouring commitments, protecting democratic freedoms, respecting human rights, and engaging constructively with the genuine representatives of the people.

The Committee expresses its gratitude to Imran Hussain MP and other Members of the UK Parliament who continue to monitor developments in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and advocate for dialogue, human rights, and a peaceful resolution.

JKJAAC remains firmly committed to non-violence, democratic engagement, and constructive dialogue. We call upon all stakeholders to prioritise the protection of human rights, the implementation of outstanding agreements, and meaningful negotiations in the interests of peace, justice, and the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
