JKJAAC Urges British Kashmiris and Supporters to Send Urgent Rawalakot Briefing to Their MPs

The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee urges British Kashmiris, human rights supporters, community organisations, and all concerned citizens in the United Kingdom to immediately send the Urgent MP Briefing on the Rawalakot / AJK emergency to their local Members of Parliament.

The briefing has been prepared for UK MPs, members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Kashmir, and FCDO casework teams. It calls for urgent parliamentary, ministerial, and consular action in response to the emergency situation in Rawalakot and wider Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

The document highlights serious concerns following the attempted funeral prayers of Shazaib Habib in Rawalakot on 7 June 2026, including reports of casualties, arrests, curfew, communications restrictions, disruption to medical access, and fear among families unable to contact loved ones.

JKJAAC calls on UK MPs to urgently raise the matter with the Foreign Secretary, the Minister for South Asia, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and the British High Commission in Islamabad.

We request British Kashmiris and supporters to ask their MPs to demand immediate de-escalation, restoration of internet and mobile communications, protection of civilians and funeral prayers, safe access to medical treatment, publication of verified lists of deceased, injured, detained and missing persons, and independent humanitarian access to Rawalakot.

JKJAAC further calls for enhanced consular support for British citizens, dual nationals, pensioners, visitors, and families currently in Azad Jammu & Kashmir who may be unable to contact relatives in the United Kingdom.

The people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir deserve peace, dignity, medical care, communication with their families, and protection from further escalation. International attention and urgent parliamentary action are needed now.

JKJAAC appeals to every concerned person in the UK: contact your MP today, send them the briefing, and ask them to act without delay.
