JKJAAC Rejects Attribution of Unauthorised Social Media Account Cited During DG ISPR Press Conference

The spokesperson for the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) has categorically rejected the attribution of a social media account to JKJAAC during today’s press conference by the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations.
JKJAAC considers it necessary to place the documented timeline of the account before the public, journalists and relevant authorities.
Timeline of the Account
February 2026:
According to the account-history material and screenshots available to JKJAAC, the account was created under the name of Shaukat Nawaz Mir and was reportedly verified while using his identity.
May 2026:
Shaukat Nawaz Mir became aware of the existence of the account and that his name was allegedly being used without his authorisation.
2 June 2026:
A public clarification was issued through the Tajraan Da Veer page, expressly denying Shaukat Nawaz Mir’s ownership of, connection with or responsibility for the account.
The account was also publicly challenged and warned by another social media user on the same date. These public records demonstrate that the account had been disowned well before the disputed material cited during the DG ISPR press conference was published.
After 2 June 2026:
Following the public denial, the account changed its name to “JAAC Official.”
28 July 2026:
A disputed post concerning Sardar Ibrahim was published from the account. The account’s name was subsequently changed again to “Rebel Pulse.”
This sequence demonstrates that the account had changed names and identities repeatedly. The temporary use of the name “JAAC Official” cannot, by itself, establish any organisational connection with JKJAAC—particularly when the account had already been publicly disowned on 2 June, several weeks before the disputed post appeared.
The JKJAAC spokesperson stated:
“We wish to make it absolutely clear that this account was not created, authorised, administered or operated by JKJAAC. It has no connection with our Core Committee, Advisory Council, leadership or any authorised spokesperson.”
The use of content from this account during an official press conference, without first establishing its ownership, administrators, verification history and genuine organisational affiliation, raises serious questions about the process through which the material was authenticated.
JKJAAC therefore calls for an independent, impartial and technically credible digital forensic investigation into:
the account’s original registration and verification records;
its complete username and display-name history;
the identities of its administrators and operators;
associated email addresses, telephone numbers, devices and access locations;
the dates and circumstances of each change to the account’s identity;
the origin and authorship of the disputed posts; and
whether JKJAAC’s name was deliberately used to impersonate, misrepresent or discredit the movement.
The relevant social media platform should be formally requested to preserve all account records, login details, metadata, IP information and access logs for examination by an independent and competent authority.
The spokesperson added:
“When an account had already been publicly disowned on 2 June, its later adoption of the name ‘JAAC Official’ cannot reasonably be treated as proof of affiliation. A complete investigation must determine who operated the account and why its identity was repeatedly changed.”
JKJAAC urges state institutions, public officials and media organisations not to attribute anonymous, impersonating or unauthorised social media accounts to peaceful civil-rights organisations without proper verification.
Unverified allegations can criminalise peaceful citizens, create dangerous misunderstandings and undermine public confidence in official institutions.
JKJAAC is prepared to provide the available screenshots, public denials, account-history records and relevant links to journalists, investigators and any competent independent authority.
The Committee remains committed to peaceful, democratic and non-violent action. Any statement claiming to represent JKJAAC should be verified through its official website, authorised social media accounts or designated spokespersons.
